Keynote Speakers:
Ashley Cagle, PE, SE | Technical Director, WoodWorks
Ashley is a licensed professional and structural engineer in California, having worked as a structural consultant in the San Francisco Bay Area and Spokane, Washington, with an expertise in light wood-frame construction. In addition to providing technical support on light wood-frame and mass timber projects around the country, she leads WoodWorks’ efforts to educate architects and engineers on using life cycle assessment as a tool to measure the embodied carbon impact of wood products and buildings. Throughout her career, Ashley has been involved in various professional and code-development committees. She received a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University and a Master of Science from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Jessica Martinez, PE | Structural Sustainability Specialist, DCI Engineers
Jessica Martinez is the sustainability specialist at DCI Engineers and serves to educate her staff and peers on sustainable solutions for structural design. Since joining DCI in 2017, she has elevated her technical expertise as a structural engineer by becoming the go-to resource for embodied carbon reduction and life cycle assessment. Jessica serves on the Seattle Carbon Leadership Forum Steering Committee where she provides leadership from the structural perspective to impact meaningful change in the building industry. She’s also the co-leader of SE2050 Committee’s Resources Working Group and Secretary of the NCSEA Sustainable Design Committee where she collaborates with other structural engineers leading sustainability initiatives across the country to share best practices and push the decarbonization of the built environment.
